Iron Disulfide (FeS2) is the disulfide of Iron. It is also known as Pyrite, in it's mineral form. Pyrite is a gold colored crystalline substance. When finely powdered, it is black and pyrophoric. This is not the common iron sulfide. (FeS) The term disulfide states the presence of the -SS- bond. Since it is pyrophoric, i decided to mix it with some potassium chlorate.. :PI don't know the exact reaction mechanism.. But who cares :P It's powerful.. :P (I'll try adding it to other mixtures later ... |
